Naomi Griffin was born January 20,1928 to Cecile and Daisy McCloud in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She married the late Jim Jones Griffin. God whispered to her the afternoon of Thursday, January 28, 2021 your work on earth is finished, come on home and rest.
She joined First Missionary Baptist Church, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1952 where she was a faithful servant until death and the title of Mother of the Church was bestowed upon her. Served as a Deaconess, Women’s Mission Union, Daughters of Zion Mission Choir, Women’s Bible Study and book club. Naomi was employed at the Leavenworth County Infirmary, which she retired after over 20 years. She was known for loving to travel, mostly visiting her family and friends. She loved sewing and being creative. She so enjoyed her BINGO, as it was her fun time, she got to meet new people and the winnings weren't bad either. She was known for driving around the city of Leavenworth, Wal-Mart and to Popeyes Chicken until 2 weeks of her illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Jones Griffin, her parents, several siblings, nephew Norman Griffin and niece Sylvia Wyche.
She is remembered by her two children: daughter Carolyn Clark of Leavenworth, KS and son Cecil James Griffin; sisters: Ruth Virgil of Hattiesburg, MS and Martha Williams of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one fifth generation great-great-granddaughter; goddaughter Francy Bennett; extended chosen family Arnetta Wallace, Charlene Lampkin, Ann Page and Pat Wheeler and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends that became a part of her life through the community and church. She loved you all in her own way because you were dear to her heart.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery.

I will certainly miss those WARM and oh, so loving hugs. Whenever, I saw Grandma Naomi she would smile from ear to ear and hold out those oh, so soft arms and wrap them around me. The BEST hugs EVER!! I know she loved her children and grandchildren with everything in her body. I will also miss those WONDERFUL, AMAZING pound cakes at Christmas time. Rest Now as You have done ALL of your earthly things and now starting a new chapter in a city paved with GOLD. Love, Love Always DuQuan.

Our deepest sympathies to Naomi's family. We have been blessed to have her as our neighbor since the day we moved into the neighborhood in 1977. She always had a kind word for us and our children. She will be missed.
