Obituary for Willie Gillom Jr.
Willie Gillom Jr., 74, of Leavenworth, passed away, Monday, December 7, 2020 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1946 in Abbeville, Mississippi; the son of Willie B and Fannie Mae (Van) Gillom Sr.
Willie attended schools in Leavenworth. On March 9, 1968, Willie was united in marriage to Mary C. Gillom (Anderson). He was employed by Great Western Mfg Co. for 35 years.
Willie had a love of woodworking, hunting, fishing, but most of all, he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved to go on long bike rides with friends and also charity rides.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Youla Brandt; his wife, Mary Gillom and brother, Oliver Gillom Sr.
To cherish his memory, Willie leaves behind a son, Clinton (Cristina) Gillom of Overland Park; a daughter, Ebony (Brandan) Shaffer of Leavenworth; two sisters, Doris Ramos and Delores (Lonnie) Davis both of Leavenworth; granddaughters Kiara and Zakaiyah; a grandson, Nicholas, two great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the March of Dimes.
