Obituary for William Gauger Jr.

William Frank Gauger Jr., 71 of Leavenworth, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021, with his family at his side. He was born June 16, 1949, in Leavenworth the son of William Frank and Dixie Diane (McIntire) Gauger Sr.

On May 18, 2006, William married Dian Murphy. She survives at the home. He is also survived by four children, Kara (Todd) Bullock, Kelly Higgins, William (Keri) Gauger III and Shelby Gauger; three step-children, Wayne, Michelle and Amanda Byrd; 13 grandchildren, James, Chelsea, Perry, Dustan, Will, Payge, Jae-yara, Javion, Mackenzy, Kayla, Kareem, Maddy and Lee; five great grandchildren, Makenzie, Payton, Jase, Emma and Bristol; two brothers, Howard (Pam) and Gus (Jenny) Gauger; and two sisters, Karen (John) Hardeman and Tammie Gauger.

William was a member and served on the board of the Happy Hollow Fish and Game.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gregory A. Gauger; two sisters, Linda Murawski and Ginger Robertson: and a step-son, Ralph Byrd.

William enjoyed working on cars. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting season with his brother, Gus and helping his brother Howard on the farm. William liked to be doing anything outdoors including camping, gardening and fishing. He also loved spending time with his friends and family.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a service at noon, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
