Obituary for Vivian Marlowe

Vivian Lou (Salsman) Marlowe, 86, of Leavenworth, Kan., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She was born May 5, 1934, in Neosho, Mo., the only child to William and Elizabeth (Bradley) Salsman.

She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after graduating high school.

Vivian married Forrest Lee Marlowe of St. Joseph, Mo., and they had five children. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sons, Rocky Lee and William Michael.

Vivian, affectionately known as “Brownie” to her family and friends is survived by three children, Eric Marlowe of Leavenworth, Kan., Darla (Jesse) Woods of Baldwin City, Kan., and Deanna (Brad) Davison of Winchester, Kan. She was a cherished “Memaw” to her 10 grandchildren, Sarah Breneman, Jessica (Mike) Self, Jon (Carly) Marlowe, Joel Marlowe, James (Courtny) Marlowe, Eryn (Nichole) Pierson, Beau (Abby) Davison, Kelli Jo (AJ) Feldhausen, Clayton Marlowe and Mica Marlowe; as well as numerous great grandchildren.

She retired from a career in Civil Service at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. Vivian later worked as a bus monitor for the Durham School Services in Lansing, Kan. She was a former member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge 55. She loved to play Bingo and try her luck at the slot machines. Vivian enjoyed family meals and get togethers. She was an excellent cook and always had a never-ending supply of sweet treats for the grandkids in her antique brown cabinet.

Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Pineville Cemetery, Pineville, Mo., with Richard Iske officiating.
