Virginia Junedale Delizo-Mays, 68, of Leavenworth, passed away March 23, 2022. Affectionately known as “Gina, Momma or Grandma” to most, Gina was born April 7, 1953, to Domingo Delizo Sr. and Jeannie Kuulei Harkless in Honolulu, Hawaii, the eldest of ten children.
She was a strong believer in Christ from a young age. She attended Hawaii's public school system and started her family on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Soon, she decided she wanted to be near her mother so she moved her family to Leavenworth, Kan.
Gina loved her family and was mutually adored by them. Getting up everyday and dressing to the nines was her thing, just so she could spend a day with one of her children or take her grandchildren out. She was a strong-willed and strong-minded person, thorough in her life’s teachings. You could count on her to keep it as real as it gets with you, always. Her nurturing side was just as tender, she always knew exactly what you needed.
She could often be found at a bingo hall near you or trying her hand at the casino. She called it her “therapy.” Gina was also a foodie, she enjoyed great food and would let you know in a minute if what you made or what she was served, wasn’t working out for her.
Gina is, was and always will be a Queen, loved by many and will be deeply missed near and far. We are so blessed and grateful to have had her for the time we did.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Shannon Perez Sr.(Shelly); her daughters, “Tita” LaKisha Wesley and Tynisha Mays; her honorary son, Montarial Wesley Sr.; her grandchildren, Lashada Garcia (Aramis), Hanaleah Perez, Kaleihewa Perez, Shannon Perez Jr. (Aliesha), Montarial Wesley Jr.(Dayresha), Hanale Perez (Kyli), Adrian Perez, Kiarial Shanty Wesley, Shanel Saim (Jakob), “Mahina” Elina Shelton, and A’jay Jones; fifteen great grandchildren; four brothers, Willie Baker Jr. (Tamberly), Cline Baker (Chauntel), Wade Baker and Santos Harkless; three sisters, Tracy Ludeman (Bob), Vontel Baker and Jancris Morris (Rudy); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Elysnor Perez III; a brother, Domingo Delizo Jr; two sisters, Mary Lucas and LeVonne Howard; her previous husband's Elysnor Hanale Perez, Jr. and Tyler Mays Jr.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
