Obituary for Troy Leitner

U.S. Army, SFC, Troy James Leitner, 40, of Tonganoxie, Kan., died Sunday, March 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 22, 1982, in Olathe, Kan., to Elizabeth A. Garrison and Michael Leitner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

On April 16, 2010, Troy married Jennifer Renee McNeely in Clarksville, Tenn. She survives at the home. He is also survived by three children, PFC Dylan M. Fletcher, Mckenzie N. McNeely both of Alexandria, La., and Madison R. Leitner of the home; two sisters, Gabby Coggins and husband, Chris of Wichita, Kan., and Tasheaka Emery and husband, Eric of Paola, Kan.; a brother, Ray Nash and wife, Desurae of Osawatomie, Kan.; his dad, Raymond Patillo; aunt and uncle, Juanita and Bob White; mother-in-law, Rebecca Rowland; father-in-law, Ret. CW4 Jack Hedrick; sister and brother-in-law, Liz and Bo Everidge; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and one great nephew.

Troy joined the United States Army in 2000. He was currently serving as Sergeant First Class, and received his Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device in 2007.

He enjoyed cooking, attending sporting events and concerts. Troy also enjoyed blowing things up. He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them and his friends.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
