Obituary for Staff Johnson Jr.
Staff Frederick Johnson, Jr., of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, at Providence Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1937, in Leavenworth, the son of Staff Frederick Sr. and Beatrice Laura (Matthews) Johnson.
On March 17, 1962, Staff married Margy Ulu Macloves in Honolulu, Hawaii. She survives at the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Regina Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Cheryl Harper of Goodyear, Ariz.; two sons, Staff Johnson III and Verlondon Johnson Sr., both of Leavenworth; two sisters, Palmeda Robinson of Leavenworth, and Beatrice Boyd of Abingdon, Md.; a brother, Pierre Ruffin of Downers Grove, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
Staff was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild
He enjoyed going golfing and playing instruments. Staff loved to dance and cook. He also enjoyed volleyball and basketball.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth , National Cemetery.
