Obituary for Shirley Christy
Shirley L. Christy, 79, of Leavenworth, Kan. passed away, Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at home surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 8, 1942 in Omaha, Neb., moving to Leavenworth at the age of three.
Shirley was the daughter of Robert and Lorain Bohannon. She graduated from Leavenworth High School.
On June 11, 1960, Shirley married the love of her life, Richard Christy at the Church of the Nazarene in Leavenworth. They were married 28 wonderful years until his passing in a car accident they were both in
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Richard (Jackye) Christy and Randal (Amy) Christy; four grandchildren, Tara, Max, Randal II and Kalyn Christy; and a brother, Dale (Carol) Bohannon.
Mrs. Christy retired from the V.A. Medical Center in 1994 after 26 years where she received numerous awards.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the KU Burn Center.
