Obituary for Sharon Davis

Sharon Denise Goodwin-Davis was born the eighth child to the late Elder Julius and Ruby May Goodwin, on May 4, 1961, in Los Angeles, California. She gained her wings early Sunday morning, August 29, 2021. Sharon grew up in the church and knew the Lord at an early age. She accepted Christ in the early 80’s and was baptized at the Pentecostal Church by the Late District Elder Leland O. Thomas.

Sharon attended Leavenworth public schools. She graduated from Leavenworth Senior High in 1979 and joined the work force shortly afterwards. Her jobs included working in the bakery department at Price Chopper, and management at KFC and Burger King, then settled on a career as a Home Care Taker.

In January of 1984, Sharon gave birth to her first child, O’Donnis Goodwin in Leavenworth, Kansas. Four years later she gave birth to a baby girl, Shanie Goodwin in 1988. Two years later Sharon moved to Sacramento, California, where her brother James resided. There she met and later married Michael Davis Sr. on February 14, 1992. That following December she gave birth to her third child, Michael Davis in 1998 and returned home to Leavenworth.

Sharon continued on her spiritual walk. She has endured many tests and trials but that did not hinder her faith in God. She was a prayer warrior, a singer, a worshipper, a true praiser who always enjoyed praising God. In her latter days she loved being in the House of God at Kingdom Harvest International Fellowship, where Bishop Rozell Tottress is the Pastor. She served as a Greeter, as well as being on the Hospitality Board and a member on the Mother Board. When she came to church, she came with a loud praise to God and would even dance with all her might and strength! Sharon would counsel the youth, and many have given their life to Christ! Many would say Sharon Davis was a psychiatrist without a degree.

Sharon blessed her family with so many great memories, and touched everyone she met, with her advice and genuine concern and care for everyone. Her main hobbies were attending church, family dinners and celebrations.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Julius and Ruby Goodwin; a sister Ruby Lynn Goodwin-Hill; four brothers, Minister Julius A. Goodwin Sr., James W. Goodwin Sr., Franklin S. Goodwin Sr., and Joseph B. Goodwin Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories; her spouse, Michael Davis Sr., Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, O’Donnis Goodwin (Ashali) Overland Park, Kan. and Michael Davis, Leavenworth, Kan.; a daughter, Shanie Goodwin, Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Debra K. Moore (Paul) Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Margaret Rainey (David) Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Bishop Lloyd M. Goodwin Sr. (Pamela) Kansas City, Mo. and Keith A. Goodwin (April) Grand Rapids, Mich.; a godbrother, Ellis McMillian and three close and dearest friends, Minister Tonnesha Jefferson, Sharon Thompson, and Cressie Roberson all of Leavenworth, Kan.

Sharon was a true giver and her spirits will be missed. Though it’s hard to say goodbye, Sharon is now at rest with God, and departed family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Pentecostal Church of Apostolic Faith. Burial will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
