Scott Blanken, 57, of Leavenworth, Kan., died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at his residence. He was born Aug. 30, 1964, in Leavenworth, the son of Elmer W. and Velma E. (Meyer) Blanken.
Scott was baptized September 20, 1964, by Rev. Preisinger with Mrs. Sam Goodin and Mr. Norbert Meyer as his sponsors. Scott was later confirmed on May 5, 1978, by Rev. Victor M. Polley. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School, West Junior High and Leavenworth High School. Scott received his Associate in Arts degree for computer aided drafting from KCKCC. Scott worked for BDM, bartended for Woodson’s Lounge, and retired from Hallmark Cards Inc. after 25 years of service as an Assistant Press Operator. Scott was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Scott enjoyed time with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball as recreational sports. Scott loved fishing, astronomy, shooting guns, and playing computer games for fun. Scott enjoyed tinkering with electronic devices. Scott was an avid motorcyclist by learning how to ride on farms and trails near his home where he grew up. Scott grew up knowing how to put together a working dirt bike from parts of non-working dirt bikes at a young age. Scott owned several motorcycles through the years, until his last purchase of a Harley Davidson which he enjoyed long rides with his riding friends.Scott frequently went on benefit rides for wounded warrior veterans and bikers for babies.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Velma E. (Meyer) Blanken; and his brother, Randall (Randy) L. Blanken.
Scott is survived by his father, Elmer W. Blanken of Leavenworth; his siblings, Karen (Mike) Lauterbach of Lansing, Lisa (Richard) DeMaranville of Leavenworth, James Blanken of Leavenworth and Mark (Beckey) Blanken of Leavenworth. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Erica (Henry), Tiffany (Jason), Kevin, Tristan (Breigh), Joshua, Marshall and Patrick; his great nieces and nephews, Joey, Sophie, Wade and Lux; his aunts and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, 4701 10th Ave., Leavenworth, KS 66048. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Damien Snyder presiding. A private family burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran or March of Dimes.
