Obituary for Robert "Mike" Hodge

Robert Michael “Mike” Hodge, 67, of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at home. He was born at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., Feb. 15, 1956, to John T. and Ruth M. Hodge.

Mike attended Leavenworth schools.

He served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976, E Company, 702nd Maintenance BN, 2nd Infantry Division and was stationed in Korea, Panama and Fort Bragg, N.C. Upon honorably discharging from the military, he went to work for the US Postal Service for some time.

Mike attended DeVry University in 1990 and earned a bachelor's degree in computer programming. He then went to work for the Department of Defense contractor Logicon, where he later retired.

He traveled the world and met many lifetime friends along the way.

Mike was a wandering soul, often times taking off to “hitchhike” the country in his teen years, just to make his mother worry.

He was preceded in death by his father, John T Hodge Sr. His grandparents John and Ruth Zobel, Gid and Fannie Hodge. Special cousins Danny Spradling and David Hodge

Mike is survived by his mother, Ruth Hodge; sons, Mike Hodge II, Leavenworth, Kellen Hodge (Season) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Brent Hodge of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Joshua and Willow Rose Hodge of Jacksonville, Fla.; siblings, Patricia Asher, Leavenworth, John T. Hodge Jr. (Cindy) of Terre Haute, Ind., Darrell Hodge (Cindy) of Prince George, Va., and Brenda (Mark) Little of Leavenworth.; special nieces and nephews, Megan, Jeff, Dusty, Raechel, John, Krissi, Derek, Zach and Sarah; and great nieces and nephews, Amelia, Haylee, Jaden, Jaxon, Jillian, Luke, Easton, Carter, Carson and Callista; and cousins, Randy and April Hodge, Caitlyn and Zach Atkins, Matthew Hodge and all of his Tennessee family.

He had a heart of gold and was a good friend to many. If you knew, Mike, you knew! We are all going to miss his presence in our lives.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Mike are suggested to the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
