Obituary for Ramona Wilson

Ramona Maria Wilson, 61, of Leavenworth, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2021. She was born Jan. 25, 1960, in Munich, Germany, to William Tucker Sr. and Herta (Holzbock) Folsom.

On July 20, 1987, Ramona married John Wilson Sr., at St. John Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan. He survives at the home. She is also survived by her mother, Herta; a son, John Wilson Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Janan (Greg) Walker and Rashael (Bianca) Apuya both of Manhattan, Kan.; three brothers, William J. Tucker, William H. Tucker Jr., and Mark Bozeman; nine sisters, Helen Henry, Mary Slaven, Rita Morrison, Carmen Bakarich, Rickie Schmalz, Johanna Daugherty, Patricia Buck, Brenda Vasquez, and Debbie Bozeman; two grandchildren, Alexandria Walker and Donita Jones; her close friend, Kim Dean; and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers, and students.

She was preceded in death by her father, William, and her father Richard Folsom; a sister, Mamie Morrison; her mother-in-law, Betty Pennington; and her brother-in-law, David Wilson.

Ramona was a devoted special education teacher for over 30 years. She was named 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year by the Atchison School District. She was also a Sunday School teacher of many years and current member of Northwest Baptist Church, Leavenworth.

She enjoyed reading, cross-stitching, attending Kansas City Chief’s football games, singing in Choir, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and playing with her fur babies.

A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home.
