On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age of 85, while surrounded by his loving family, Ralph was welcomed into Heaven.
Ralph was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Jarbalo, Kan. to Daisy Marie (Moore) Byers and Harley Moore. He attended Leavenworth schools and then graduated from Oak Grove High School, where he played football while working after school at a local gas station.
Ralph was no stranger to hard work, working in his early adulthood at numerous jobs including milk delivery boy, paperboy, a pin setter at a bowling alley and a stint at Missouri Valley Steel. He started at TWA at the age of 19 - the youngest mechanic at TWA at the time. When he was 23, Ralph enlisted in the Army and served for three years including time stationed at Fort Leavenworth and Germany. While serving his country, he was trained as an airline mechanic, receiving many accolades for his superior work. After completing his tour of duty, Ralph returned to TWA and remained there for 43 years, earning an Employee of the Year award; finally retiring in 1999 as a Lead Inspector.
He was active in his community. He served as President of USD 469 Board of Education and Chairman of the Board of Community America Credit Union. He was involved in church including singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and serving as the superintendent of his Sunday school. Faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Ralph married Norma Siddens on December 7, 1963, at the First United Methodist Church in Leavenworth. For 59 years they lived in Leavenworth and Lansing raising their family and living a life of love, laughter and travel. He is survived by his wife, Norma; son, Tim (Diana) Moore of Smithville, Mo., daughter, Julie (John) Hattok, Leavenworth, Kan., and son, Steve (Valerie) Moore, of Olathe, Kan.; his grandchildren were his pride and joy, Taylor (Sam) Cook, Zachary Moore, Tanner Williams, Jackson Moore, Riley Moore, Allison Moore, Quinlan Moore; and his first great-grandson, Lane Cook. He is also survived by his older brother, Harold Moore of Leavenworth, Kan.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home in Leavenworth. A Celebration of Life for Ralph will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or KC Hospice/Northcare Hospice House.
Ralph was the first to offer a helping hand, the first to give a kind word, and the first to give his prayers. He knew no strangers and believed in being kind to all. In memory of Ralph, please do a random act of kindness.
