Obituary for Penny Lovejoy

Penny Ann Lovejoy, 74, of Lansing, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021. She was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Elkhart, Ind., the daughter of Milton and Arletta (Munch) Lovejoy.

She attended Indiana University and earned her Master of Psychology from St Mary University. Penny was Scuba Certified. She was an avid cook, winning the National Chicken cooking champion award several times.

Penny is survived by two sons, Jeremy and Luke Hoskam; two daughters, Kate Hoskam and Sarah (Ryan) Case; a sister, Michele (Richard) Goebel; nine grandchildren, Cooper Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Carter Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Dakota Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Bella Espinoza, Evan Case and Leia Hoskam; and two nieces, Heidi (Jason) Gregory and Heather (Tim) Hatch.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jacob Hoskam and a nephew, Ross Goebel.

Penny loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially doing puzzles with them. Her Christian faith was an essential part of her life and she enjoyed sharing her faith with others. She got joy from leading bible studies and singing praise music. Her voice, in singing and talking, joyfully spread God’s love to everyone she met. She also enjoyed knitting, needlework, traveling and cooking.

A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Alliance Against Family Violence.
