Obituary for Paul Willingham

Paul E. Willingham went to be with the Lord on December 7th, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born on May 31st, 1929, in Danville, IL, to John and Esther (Stark) Willingham. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO, and completed additional schooling throughout his long career. Paul worked for Hallmark Cards from 1948-1993-his career interrupted only by service in the United States Army from 1956-1958. Throughout his life, Paul was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Paul married Carolyn Mueller on August 2nd, 1958, in Leavenworth, KS. Together, they have two children: daughter, Viola E. Budd (Mark) of Raytown, MO; and son, John A. Willingham of Leavenworth, KS. Paul also had two additional children: daughter, Connie P. Willingham; and son, Paul “Ed” Willingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Willingham; his brothers, John A. Willingham, Jr. and Jerome B. Willingham; his daughter, Connie P. Willingham; and son, Paul “Ed” Willingham.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Viola; son, John; and many extended family members and countless friends. Paul was a kind man, a loving husband and father, and a dedicated servant of the communities in which he lived. For everything he accomplished, for every way in which he served his neighbors, Paul desired neither accolades nor recognition. It was enough to serve and be served… to know and be known… to love and be loved. Most importantly, Paul devoted his life to following Jesus Christ. There was nothing he would not give if it meant one more person could know that they are loved by God. Today, Paul is in God’s presence. His community will never forget that he was here, too.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 10:00 - 11:00 am at Belden Larkin Funeral Home, 707 S 6th St., Leavenworth KS 66048. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Alex Wilson, officiating. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 pm with military honors.
