Obituary for Nina Bray

Nina Jo Bray, 88, of Leavenworth, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. She was born Sept. 8, 1934, to Delbert and Ruah Sterrett, in Clay County, Kan.

She graduated from Clay County High School in 1952. Nina met her husband, Robert Bray, while working at Safeway in Concordia, Kan. and they married on May 17, 1953, in Idana, Kan.

Nina was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed ceramics, sold Avon for over 30 years and handed out samples at Safeway.

While growing up, her family played lots of games, which she instilled into her own family. Nina loved to play games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nina is survived by her children, Bob (Cathy) Bray of Tonganoxie, Rod (Susan) Bray of Leavenworth, Susan (Tony) Hill of Lansing, and Tim (Sue) Bray of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren, Brad (Jen) Bray, Cristen Bray, Jim (Liz) Bray, Megan (AJ) Todd, Stephanie (Lance) Wade, Bethanie (Ian) Leintz, Kindra Reckers, Kohl (Briana) Bray and Trever (Destiny) Bray; great grandchildren, Travis Bray, Emma and Stella Bray, Caiden Wiggin, Ben, Nora, Johnny and Mack Todd, Brayden Wade, Korbin and Karson Reckers, Bryson Simmons and two on the way; a sister, Jane (Greg) Warren; and a brother, Jim (Marilyn) Sterrett.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Jackie Schafer; and a brother, Mike Sterrett.

Nina and Bob were snowbirds for 29 years in Chandler, Ariz. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and loved having her guests stay overnight. They had a place at Pomme de Terre Lake, where she loved driving the boat. Entertaining her friends and family was something Nina truly enjoyed.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Council On Aging Senior Activities, The Deeper Window Association for Alzheimer’s and Dementia or
Crossroads Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the Ascend hospice staff.
