Obituary for Michael Hadock Jr.

Michael J. Hadock Jr., 78, of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022. He was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Leavenworth, the son of Michael John and Dollyfay (Minney) Hadock.

On Oct. 28, 1986, Michael married Gayle E. (Mark) Hadock in Leavenworth, Kan. She preceded him in death Dec. 15, 2020, after 34 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Matthew James Hadock; two siblings, Alfred Hadock and Louise Hill

He is survived by two children, Michaela “Shelli” J. Seeger and husband, Jeff and Michael John Hadock III, and wife, Amanda, both of Leavenworth Kan.; a sister, Debbie Jones and husband, Don of Beeville, Texas; and several grandchildren, a great grandchild and nephews that he loved to visit or check in on often.

Michael took great interest in his families’ lives and was extremely proud of each one of them. He enjoyed staying active by visiting friends and family daily by just dropping in to see people or stopping at the river daily. He called it making his rounds or “idling”. Whether driving a Semi in his early days, riding his motorcycle, jumping in his car to travel visiting friends and family around the US or just taking rides to take in the sights, Michael thought the flatlands were beautiful, just as much as he enjoyed the mountain scenery, or driving to Texas to see the ocean.

He also loved to cook and go to lunch or breakfast with his friends. Michael enjoyed helping others, as a member of the VFW, the VVA Chapter 75 and other organizations, he liked to keep busy and if there was a day he had nothing to do, he would say he was bored.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the VVA Chapter 75.
