Obituary for Melvin Sewell Jr.
Melvin Ray Sewell Jr., 61, of Leavenworth, died Friday, June 19, 2020. He was born Sept. 7, 1958, in Great Bend, Kan., the first of five children to Melvin R. and Mary Catherine (Campbell) Sewell.
After graduating from Leavenworth High School in 1976. Melvin married the love of his life, Debora Crouthamel on April 2, 1977. She survives at the home. He is also survived by three sons, Melvin R. (Julie) Sewell III, Corey R. Sewell and Bradley R. Sewell; two grandchildren, Campbell Sewell and Melvin R. Sewell IV; three sisters, Deborah Yocam, Laura Crawford and Rebecca Swindell; and a brother, Alexander Sewell.
Melvin worked at Hamm’s Quarries for 21 years and then the City of Leavenworth for 17 years as an Equipment Operator.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and especially nurse Chris for all of the outstanding care they provided.
Per Melvin’s wishes, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
