Obituary for Melvin Lister Jr.
Melvin Lee Lister Jr., 63, of Leavenworth, died Friday, May 13, 2022. He was born March 31, 1959, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to Melvin Lee and Rubyo (Price) Lister Sr.
On July 22, 1978, Melvin married Ardina N. Bryant, in Staten Island, N.Y. She survives at the home. He is also survived by a son, Melvin Lister III, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Shondell and Aarika Lister both of Leavenworth; two sisters, Jean Blake of Leavenworth and Samantha Blake of Staten Island, N.Y.; two brothers, Isaac Blake III and Karmel Blake both of Staten Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Zane, Melvin IV, Earl “Trey” III, Sean and Simone.
He served in the United States Army for many years and retired in 1994. Melvin also worked for and retired from the Department of the Army as a military police officer. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.
Melvin was an avid musician. He was a talented Saxophone player and enjoyed singing. Melvin also enjoyed building and creating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the Masonic Service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
