Melitta Browning (née Kunz), 94, of Leavenworth, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at home surrounded by family. She was born July 1, 1928, in Friedberg, Germany to Ernst and Martha Kunz.
She met and married Wesley Browning while he was stationed in Germany. They shared their lives for more than 50 years before he preceded her in death.
Melitta was a hard worker from the time she was small and worked in the potato fields in Germany and helped take care of her brothers and sisters until the time she retired after working many years for AAFES.
She is survived by six children, Edith (Rheinhardt) Schmidt, Gerda (Carlos) Ayala-Pagan, Mona Lisa Harrison, Fred Browning, Donna Browning and Brenda Miller; two sisters, Waltraud Pina and Butchie Woods. Melitta was also proud to have numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her brothers, Heini, Welli, Otto, Harry and Rolph; her sisters, Erika, Marie, Gicela, Anneliese and Sigriet; and her son in law, Brett Miller.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
