Obituary for Mark Lingenfelser

Mark Anthony Lingenfelser, 62, of Leavenworth, died Monday, May 15, 2023, at Providence Medical Center. He was born August 20, 1960, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Maximus Leo and Mary C. (Manthe) Lingenfelser.

He went to work for the Leavenworth Police Department in 1982. Mark spent many years educating children in the Leavenworth community as the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Officer, before retiring in 2012. After retiring from the city, Mark worked as a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Deputy until his health forced him to end his long career in law enforcement. Mark also volunteered his time at the Kickapoo Township Fire Department for over twenty years, where he served as Fire Captain for 12 years. A position he served in until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Max Lingenfelser.

Mark is survived by a daughter, Emily Lingenfelser of Leavenworth; two grandsons, Oliver Bowman of Wyandotte, Okla., and Lennox Lingenfelser of Leavenworth; three brothers, his twin brother, Mike (Diane) of Leavenworth, Dan (Pat) of Manhattan, Kan. and Bill (Joan) of Willard, Mo.; two sisters, Jane Alford of Topeka, Kan, and Mary Ann Robker (Doug) of Gladstone, Mo.; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and his faithful dog, Bella.

He spent his entire life farming the family farm and maintained the farm with help from his family and friends until his death. Mark also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Easton, KS. Memorials are suggested to the Kickapoo Township Fire Department Scholarship Fund.
