Obituary for Leo Behee

Leo Francis Behee, 88, Leavenworth, died in a tragic motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Leo was born on February 13, 1932.

He was the son of Burton R. and Dorothy M. (Wanstreet) Behee. He attended Sacred Heart school and enlisted into the United States Army on November 17, 1952. Leo served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant Major in May of 1954. Leo worked for KU Medical Center with his good friends Dan Duffin and Ray Zielinski. From there, the trio went to Physicians Reference Laboratory “PRL”, where Leo worked until his retirement. He made lifelong friends at “PRL” that continued to gather semi-monthly for Leo’s favorite buffet style lunches. Leo was a gifted athlete, with golf being his game of choice.
He is survived by his brothers Bill (Judy) Behee, Leaveneworth and John (Judy) Behee, Indiana. His nieces Kathy Kozak, Lisa Ragland, “Mickey” Delgado, Carol Christoffersen and Anne Dunning, nephews Bob Williams, Mark Behee, Bill Behee Jr., John Behee and Brian Behee and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rosemary Holmes and Marjorie Williams and nephew Michael Holmes.

A visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2020 at 9 a.m. with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Leavenworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
