Lawrence "Larry" Brown, 80, of Leavenworth, departed this earth Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. He was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Leavenworth, the first of nine children to Elliott and Maeola (Davis) Brown.
He lived life on his own terms and spent several years in California before returning home to Leavenworth where he lived out the remainder of his life. He was a country boy at heart who enjoyed working with his hands.
Larry spent several years working for Dillons Grocery store, where he was loved and respected by his coworkers. He also worked at St. Mary’s College, Leavenworth County Infirmary and he contributed to countless construction projects throughout the region working independently, with his family and for KAAZ Construction.
He was a genuine comedian who loved his family and friends. Larry enjoyed cowboy western movies, hunting, spending time in the casino and shooting the breeze with his “Garden” buddies. They will miss his stories, banter and wise cracks. He had a love for cooking and could whip up just about anything. He had a fondness for Circus Peanuts candy and could always be counted on to lend anyone a helping hand. He always said “Never shoot a squirrel in a hole”. He was a well-loved person.
Larry leaves to mourn and cherish his loving memory three daughters, Ingrid (Charles Sr.), DeSharia and Larica “Reece” (Bill); two sons, Morten (Corina) and Carlos (Jackie); four brothers, Raymond (Jackie), Ernest, Daniel and Jeffery; four sisters, Edna (Willie) Patricia (Ricky), JoAnn and Brenda (Rodney); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; paternal grandparents, Chester and Edna Brown; maternal grandparents, Onie and Victoria Davis; his life partner, Margaret May; his son, Steven Brown; daughter, Sherri L. May; and his niece, Victoria Brown.
