Obituary for Kevin Maxey

On May 31, 2021, Kevin Vanoy Maxey, Sr., heard the soft calling of the Master’s voice and without hesitation marched upward to Zion into that beautiful city of God.

Kevin the first child of Oza Maxey, II and Edna M. Brantley, was born in Temple, Texas. He attended schools in St. Joseph, MO and Leavenworth, KS and upon completion of his education in 1974, enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for two years and was released from active duty. Upon his return to Leavenworth, KS, Kevin became employed at the Commissary in Ft. Leavenworth, KS, where he gave 14 years of dedicated service.

Kevin professed his love and belief in Jesus the Christ at an early age and through this love and his steadfast faith anchored his soul in the Lord. This professed faith and spirit created a man that was forever open, cheerful and joyful to all – Kevin never met a stranger. He always had a bright smile and a twinkle in his eyes as he tilted his head to say “Hey, what’s up”. Kevin never backed away from a challenge, one would say his mantra was grounded in Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”

Kevin was the proud father of three children, two sons Christopher Maxey (who proceeded him in death), Kevin V. Maxey, Jr., and one daughter (Micheala D. Maxey)
He was greeted in Heaven by his father Oza Maxey, II; son Christopher Maxey and brother Michael Brantley.
