Obituary for Katherine Campbell

Katherine Anne Campbell was born to Dean and Wilma Campbell, on March 3, 1958. She was preceded in death by them. ‘Kathy’ is survived by her two brothers; Jim and his wife Connie of Lansing, along with their two daughters Sydney and Jordan, and Steve and his wife Le-Thu, of Lawrence. Also surviving are her aunt and uncle, Pat and Jerry Daigh of Olathe, cousins Toni and Doug Kliewer, John and Jackie Daigh, and several second cousins.

Kathy grew up in central Leavenworth and attended public schools. She graduated from Leavenworth High School as a member of the National Honors Society. Kathy attended St. Mary’s University in Leavenworth where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s in Education. Kathy went on to teach middle school in Easton, Kansas for 20 years.

Kathy had a love for children, as she spent many of her teenage years babysitting for nearly every family in the neighborhood, and several others that attended her church. Kathy also loved music as she demonstrated by learning to play piano, clarinet, the bassoon, French horn, saxophone, and many other instruments. Kathy was also very passionate about her faith and was very involved in choir and bell choir at both churches she attended over the years. Kathy enjoyed books and movies and had an extensive collection of both.

Kathy passed away on Tuesday, Oct.20 in a tragic home accident that has both shocked and saddened her family and friends. She will be terribly missed.

The family extends a solemn gratitude to the Dr.’s and counselors at the Leavenworth County Guidance Center. We are eternally grateful for your support of Kathy during her times of need.
The family requests memorials be sent to The Guidance Center or to Trinity Lutheran Church, who also served as a stabilizing entity in Kathy’s life.

A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2101 10th Ave. in Leavenworth., with a visitation an hour prior to the service. The family is planning a private burial.
