Obituary for John Medley Sr.

John David Medley Sr. (JD) 70, of Easton Kansas passed away Friday, Feb 3, 2023 in the home. He was born in Sugar Creek Mo., on April 21, 1952 to Betty Blossom Roundtree and Lee R. Medley.

On February 16, 1976, He married the love of his life Maria Nancita (Regalrio) Medley in Las Vegas NV, She survives in the home. JD is also survived by Two Children, son John (Kim) Medley Jr of Easton and Michelle (Jason) Shackleford of Leavenworth, eight grandchildren, David Medley, Caleb (Laura) Medley, Brett (Cassie) Tucker, Lauren (Nic) Tucker, Christian Lanter, Desirae (Jae) Shackleford, Kyla Shackleford and Jade Shackleford; five great grandchildren Phoenix, Grayson, Brody, Hope and Leif; eight siblings, Joe Medley, Cathy Tressell, Babbie Branch, Barbara Branch, Lisa Branch, Terry Branch, David Branch and Raymond Branch and multiple nieces and nephews

JD was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Phillip Branch Sr.; two siblings, Phillip Branch Jr. and Pam Kipper; grandson, Isaiah Medley and daughter-in -law Michelle Medley.

In May of 1972 JD enlisted in the USMC receiving a National Defense Service Medal during his time in service. He was honorably discharged in June of 1976. After his time in the USMC JD was a Service Manager for the automated feeing equipment (technician) for Missouri Valley Harvestore for 18 years. In 2000, he obtained his BS in industrial electronics technology for the Electronic Institute and began working at Harrah’s Cassino in NKC as a slot technician until he retired in 2009.

In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife would also go camping at Stockton Lake, where they fished and enjoyed the great outdoors.

A graveside service with Marine Corp Honors will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Leavenworth National Cemetery. A funeral procession led by the Patriot Guard Riders will take place at 2:15 p.m. from R.L. Leintz Funeral Home to the cemetery for anyone that would like to attend. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Fluffy’s Swedish Pub (507 Cherokee St. Leavenworth Ks). All family and friends are invited to come join us in celebrating JD.
