Obituary for Janie Davis

Janie Marie (Carter) Davis, passed away at age 82, Friday, Dec. 24, 2021. She was born June 27, 1939 in Leavenworth, Kan., to Herbert Carter and Laura Barnett.

Janie attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Leavenworth High School.

On April 27, 1963, Janie was united in marriage to Robert Lee Davis. This
union produced four children; Bruce Elliott, Byron Deon, Lisa Kay and Linda LaMet.

Janie worked at the BandG Hosiery Shop, The Model, Sears Roebuck, Hallmark Cards and the Leavenworth Social Service, where she retired after 22 years of service. While she worked at the Leavenworth Social Service she befriended people from all walks of life and learned to care
and comfort them when needed.

She was a devout Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Church in Leavenworth, Kan.

Janie had a fond love for flowers. She used to say digging in the dirt brought her great peace. She loved her family, garage sales, reading, sewing and music of all kinds. She always had a kind word for anyone she came in contact with. She will be missed by those that loved her the most.

Janie is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Davis, her sons, Bruce Davis (Glenda) of Lansing, Kan., Byron Davis (Kristie) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters, Lisa Smith of Leavenworth and Linda Majors (Tony) of Leavenworth; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

A memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The family asks that everyone please wear a mask. Inurnment will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
