Obituary for James Sexton

James H. Sexton, 83 of Lansing, Kan., passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, in his home.
Jim was born Oct. 16, 1938, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Charles E. and Rose M. (Harris) Sexton.

He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1956 and the University of Kansas in 1962.
Jim worked for various pump manufacturing companies as a design engineer, retiring in September 2005, after 38 years from Fairbanks Morse Pump Co., as Manager of Development Engineering. After retirement Jim did consulting work for several manufacturing companies.

He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching all his children play sports and never missed a game. He coached some of their baseball and basketball teams.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Rose, brother Charles, sister JoAnn and grandson Zachary Burke.

He married Roberta (Bobbie) M. Santa on Dec. 26, 1964, at Immaculate Conception Church in Leavenworth. They were married for 57 years. He is survived by wife, Roberta; sons, Jim P. and Lucy of Leavenworth, David S. of Lansing, Steve E. of Parsons, Kan., Charley E. of Bonner Springs, Kan.; and daughter Sandra M. and Teresa Ruiz of Culver City, Calif.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a memorial starting at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
