James “Jim” Harold Nabors, 62, of Lansing, Kan., died Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at home. He was born July 29, 1960, in Heber Springs, Ark., the son of Billy Dee and Elizabeth Ann (Sowrheaver) Nabors.
Jim was an Eagle Scout at 13 years old. His signature character was a bunny, which came from his scouting days when his group was called the “Pink Bunny Patrol”.
He attended Henderson State University on a ROTC Scholarship. Jim received a Bachelors in Physics and was a member of the National Physics Honor Society and Sigma Pi Sigma during his time there.
Jim served in the United States Army from 1982 to 1986 before being honorably discharged as a Captain.
On July 15, 2000, Jim married Teri Lynn Wood. She survives at the home. He is also survived by his mother of Paron, Ark.; two daughters, Danielle and Courtney Moore of Leavenworth; a sister, Patricia Chaloner of Murfreesboro, Ark.; nephew, Kevin Chaloner and wife, Maggie of Bryant, Ark.; niece, Kimberly Horne and husband, Jake of Queen Creek, Ariz.; and two great-nephews.
He enjoyed reading, playing trivia and dominoes with his friends and family. He was a lover of animals. Jim also loved going on trips, camping and canoeing with his family. He was a devoted Dad, playing a vital role in his youngest daughter’s soccer career as an Assistant Coach and generating stats. He enjoyed making everyone feel special, signing any holiday or birthday card with his signature bunny. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with military honors rendered at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to R.L. Leintz Funeral Home for funeral expenses or North Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
