Henry Tyrone Garrett 71, of Beaumont, Texas, died January 10, 2023, at his home. He was born March 24,1951, in Tampa, Florida, the son of Henry and Eunice Mack Sr.
Tyrone attended elementary school in Tampa, Florida, and graduated high school in Minot, North Dakota. He worked a few odd jobs in Newark, New Jersey before joining the marines in 1973. He was discharged honorably from the marines in 1978 at the USDB, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he started working for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
On September 7, 1984, Tyrone married Joan Marie Richards; to this union one daughter was born March of 1991, Daphne Camille Marie Garrett.
Tyrone was truly a one of a kind person and possessed a brilliant sense of humor. He liked playing card games, spades, bid whist, monopoly, dominoes, listening to old 70s and 80s music, working out at the gym and weight lifting, going to the casino and he was a weekly lottery ticket player.
He retired from the USP Beaumont Penitentiary in 2001.
Tyrone leaves to cherish in his memory his daughter, Daphne Garrett of Lawrence, Kan.; his ex-wife, Joan Garrett; step-daughter, A. Monique Brown; and granddaughter, Ashley M. Brown all of Leavenworth, Kan.; two sisters, Sheryl (Walter) Curtis of Laurel, Md. and Linda Garrett; his brother, Edward Garrett; nephew, Mason Garrett; two nieces, Rahsheda and Sabina Beamon all of Baltimore, Md.; along with a host of friends, in-laws and extended family!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Mack Sr. and Eunice and stepfather, Donald Garrett.
A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
