Obituary for Frank Mazeitis

Frank A. Mazeitis (79) of Leavenworth, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. He was born September 5, 1940 in Wilkinsburg, PA and grew up in Plum, PA.
Frank attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA and had a 35-year career in civil service, finishing his career at the Department of Information Management at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. After retiring, he worked at Platte County High School in Platte City, MO for 10 years. He was also a soccer coach at Immaculata High School for 30 years.

Frank was active as a youth soccer coach, an assistant coach for the University of Saint Mary, a member of the Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Board, St. Casimir Church, and the Men’s Society. He was also a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

He married Patricia Walsh on April 25, 1964 in Unity, PA and they were married for 41 years. Frank is survived by his five children Michelle (Tom) Morgan, Parkville , MO, Drew (Shawna) Mazeitis, Parkville , MO, Renee (Richard) Joyce, Oxford, MS, Heather (Tim) Mazeitis-Fontenot, Eunice, LA, and Derek (Dana) Mazeitis, Kansas City, MO. He was also very proud of his 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister.

A visitation beginning with praying of the rosary will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, friends may call any time after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. Mirianand Mendem as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
