Obituary for Francis Hundley

Francis W. “Spike” Hundley, 78 of Leavenworth, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at his home with his wife of 59 years at his side. He was born Dec. 31, 1941, in Leavenworth, the son of Hampton J.R. and Anna Frances (Roberts) Hundley.

Spike served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. He was a long-time Leavenworth resident. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of A.F. and A.M. of Kansas Hancock Lodge #3, Fort Leavenworth. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Spike was a Christian and loved his family deeply.

Spike worked for KPandL and retired with 35 plus years of service. Spike and Pat purchased and ran Hundley Retail Liquor on Broadway for 25 years.

On Sept. 21, 1961, he married Pat Parr, she survives of the home. He is also survived by a son, Dave (Becky) Hundley of Wichita, Kan; two grandchildren, Ben and wife Elizabeth and Margaret Hundley; a great grandchild due to arrive in January; his extended family, Duane Hundley, Terry Hundley, Roger Hundley, J.T. Hundley and Sharon Kay Tuttle; two brothers in-law, Charlie Allen and Dave Tuttle; two sisters in-law Connie and Judy Hundley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in-law, Elyse Hundley and a beloved sister, Jerry Ann Allen.

A graveside service will begin at noon Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at Kickapoo Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements provided by R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Kickapoo Memorial Cemetery.
