Obituary for Eugene Graves

Eugene Graves, 64 of Leavenworth, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at St. John Hospital. He was born November 21, 1956, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Eugene and Ernestine (Bryant) Graves.

On May 2, 1979, Eugene married Cynthia Gray in Hamtramck, Mich. She survives at the home. He is also survived by three children, Tamika Graves of Leavenworth, Kan., Eugene L. Graves of Tucson, Ariz., and Michael Graves of Las Vegas, Nev.; five brothers, Reinard Graves, SCPO Bryant Williams, Broderick Graves, Ronald Williams and Marcus Williams; three sisters, Vanessa (Ned. A Jr.) Gray, Kimberly Williams and Yolanda Graves; two grandchildren; Tavus Darnell and Janel Darnell.

He was a career Veteran. Serving in the United States Army from 1975 to 1996.

Eugene enjoyed fishing and watching the Kansas City Chiefs win. He was an artist and he liked to travel. Eugene also enjoyed volunteering and mentoring whenever he was given the opportunity. His family was his priority, he loved and always supported them.

He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
