Obituary for Edward Bergman Sr.

Edward Paul Bergman Sr., 88 of Leavenworth, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, in Leavenworth. He was born April 23, 1933, the son of Clarence and Helen (Thomas) Bergman Sr.

He is survived by his son- Edward (Debbie Ayers) Bergman Jr., of Leavenworth; his grandchildren, Kersten (Heath) Murry, Trey Bergman, James (Michaela) Bergman, Chelsea (Richard) Hinz, Perry (Haylee) Bergman, Kali (Chad) Seber, Tiffani (Tommy) Wyrick; great- grandchildren, Taylor, Kooper, Keagan, Mackenzie, Payton, Jase, Emma, Bristol, Destinie, Richard, Robert, Braxton, Tucker, and Kora; a sister, Helen Marie Rutledge; many nieces and nephews; his good friend Mary Charlette Kern and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edward also had many grandchildren and Great grandchildren in the Kern family that called him grandpa or “Poppy”

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie Wagle, a daughter Glenda Young. Son, James Bergman, two brothers, Clarence "Sonny" (Grace) Bergman Jr. and Ralph (Cora) Bergman and a brother-in-law, John Rutledge

He attended St Joseph grade school and graduated Leavenworth High School in the class of 1951. He served in the US Army, Worked at Bergman Coal and Material for 13 years and Foster Cabinet Shop for 34 years. He was a member of St Joseph Church, St Joseph Benevolent Society, and Golden Eagle Aeries #55

He enjoyed Fishing, hunting, gardening, feeding and watching birds, visiting family and friends, dancing at the Eagles and attending Wednesday mornings breakfast gatherings with the Henry Leavenworth Antique Auto Club.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Joseph Church window project.
