Obituary for Derrick Lofton

On Sunday December 13th 2020 Derrick Lofton loving son and brother passed away from sudden heart failure at aged 48, he was born on June 30 1972 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Doris Lofton and Bernard Warren and he grew up knowing and being around much of his mother’s entire family as a child he loved to fix things, watch basketball, playing football and to ride bikes with friends and cousins. In May of 1992 he graduated from Leavenworth High School with aspirations of being a comedian. A just calling for a man that always had something funny to say whether with friends or family Derrick could easily become the life of the party and he didn’t mind taking his show on the road moving finally to Atlanta, Georgia where he reacquainted himself with old friends and family. Friends considered him a trusted and loyal friend with a very big heart.

Derrick is survived by his mother Doris Lane-Hill Leavenworth, Kansas, one brother Lamont Lane Jr, three sisters Monica Lane St. Louis, Missouri, Maresa Lofton Leavenworth, Kansas, Sondrea Letner Kansas City, Kansas his mother’s only sister Donna Lofton St. Louis, Missouri, five nieces, four nephews seven great nieces and nephews and a host of other family members in Mississippi and Georgia that will miss him his style and smile. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
