Obituary for David Valverde

David “Dave” Alonzo Valverde went home to Jesus, Dec. 26th, 2021, at age 36. He was born to Marco Toro-Valverde and Linda Valverde on March 28, 1985 in Leavenworth, Kan.

As a child, he attended the Lansing school district from K-12th grade and graduated in 2003. Dave played soccer through high school, enjoyed being in choir and loved being near his big family and many friends.

Dave met his wife, Casey, in 2001 at Lansing High School. They were in the same choir class - it’s no wonder he liked that class! Dave and Casey married four years later on February 25, 2005, and went on to have six children.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, David also loved fishing, mushroom hunting, hiking, antiquing, watching football and baseball, swimming with the kids and sitting on the front porch around the fire table. He talked to his parents on the phone almost daily.

In 2006, he began working at Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) in Leavenworth. He started as a contractor, but ended as a Government employee being a Program Specialist. In 2019, David graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College with an Associate Degree in Science. Dave attended Church of the Open Door and was committed to serving the Lord Jesus Christ with his wife.

David is preceded in death by his father, Marco; and two brothers, Tony and Keith Valverde.

He is survived by his wife, Casey (Vaughn) Valverde; his six children, Carson, Peyton, Brighton, Ephraim, Adah and Miriam Katherine; his mother, Linda (Smart) Valverde; two brothers, Marco (Gwyn) Valverde and Scot (Candace) Valverde; three nephews, five nieces, one great nephew; and a countless number of family and friends who adored him.

A visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Church of the Open Door (4800 S. 20th St. Trafficway, Leavenworth, KS). A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
