Obituary for David Jeannin

David Nicholas Jeannin, 43, of Leavenworth, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at Providence Medical Center. He was born Dec. 7, 1978, in Leavenworth, the son of Marianne Grodberg and Michael Jeannin.

David is survived by his parents; his adored and cherished daughter, Maura Jeannin; his devoted brother, Scott (Kim) Hedge; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Megan Jeannin; and his loving step-father, Joel Grodberg.

David graduated from Maur Hill Academy and attended Kansas State University. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow.

He had a kind and gentle heart. David had an attractive personality and loyalty which won him many good friends. His dry wit and sharing of historical facts and frivolous trivia were well known.

In an essay, David once wrote, “I cannot say that I know my life’s purpose. Maybe that path into the future will lead to some artistic expression or maybe it will lead to social service. Wherever it leads, my intentions are to be honorable, to be civic-minded, and to contribute productively to my community, nation and world.”

A private service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and because David was an animal lover, it is requested that memorials be given to Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society, 728 Cherokee St. Leavenworth, KS.

Go, dear David, into the land of light and joy.
