Crystal June Cox, 98, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Emporia, Kan., to William and Josephine (Holmes) Saffer.
In 1942, June married Roy E. Cox Jr. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary Lee Cox and Michael Alan Cox; and a grandson, Hank Ryan Bullock.
June is survived by a son, Gregory “Greg” Alan Cox of Leavenworth; two daughters, Linda Daub of Leavenworth and Debra Kirby of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Mello; nine grandchildren, Gregory Cox, Stephen Cox, Todd Bullock, David Bullock, Casey Rigdon Plemmons, Rhonda Cox Andrews, Bethany Rae Cox, Alan Cox and Melissa Lynn Blakley; and many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed her family, shopping and going to the casinos. June worked for Hallmark Cards and Fort Leavenworth. She was a member of First Christian Church for many years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Private Burial will follow at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Leavenworth County Humane Society or Harvestors Food Bank.
