Obituary for Cordell Jackson

Cordell Jackson, 82, was born in Hosston, La., to parents of Henry Terry Jackson and Sally Dixson Jackson. He lived in Lansing, Kansas for the past 30 years.

Cordell’s passion and life work were to tell people he met about Jesus Christ and His plan for their salvation: Holy Bible-- Acts 2:36 -39.

Jesus delivered Bro. Jackson from a life of alcohol and drugs addictions. Jesus gloriously filled him with the Holy Ghost and fire. He taught the Bible in all the Correctional Facilities in Leavenworth/Lansing and Fort Leavenworth. He received the KDOC Secretary's Commendation for Lansing Correctional Facility's Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007.

SPC 5 Cordell Jackson proudly served in the US Army 1th Cavalry Aviation, during the Vietnam War. He said he served in the Army for 2 years, 26 days, 4 hours, 24 minutes and 6 seconds.
He married Irma Taylor Jackson, three (3) children were born; Cordell Jackson, Jr.; Elbert James Jackson (Tanya); Glenn Edward Jackson.

He is survived by wife of 30 years, Vairzora Preston Jackson. No children were born to this union. Cordell lovingly chose to build a family with this union; children, Christopher Preston (Sharina); Doryan Preston Farley; Jennifer Preston Rogers (Gary). He has one daughter, Carla Tate. He lived to see four generations of children.

He was the 14th of 15 children, all of whom preceded in him in death: Jessie Jackson, Hardy Jackson, Violet Jackson Herndon, H. T. Jackson, Getherine Jackson, Sarah Jackson Walker, James Jackson, Willis Jackson, Mildred Jackson Monroe, Bertha Jackson, Pompie Jackson, Belzora Jackson and Elbert Jackson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
