Obituary for Cecilia Schneider

Cecilia Schneider, 95, of Leavenworth, passed away, Sunday, February 21, 2021, due to complications from COVID.

Cecilia Elizabeth Theresa Schneider was born February 9, 1926, in Clyde, Missouri to Emil and Anna Strueby. On August 26, 1947, she married her honey, William Peter Schneider. They moved to Leavenworth not long after and began their family cattle farm. Cecilia worked at Hallmark Cards for many years before retiring to run the farm.

We are beyond blessed to have had our Granny as the matriarch of our family. She taught us what strong really means. Her home was on the farm. Even up until recent years you could find her out feeding cows or mowing her own grass because there was work to be done and nobody worked harder than she did. We couldn’t have asked for a better counselor, encourager, french fry maker or fishing buddy while growing up.

Cecilia is survived by her best friends: her grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Schneider and Mandy (Bill) Klinedinst, both of Leavenworth and Dusty (Stephanie) Newell of Baldwin City, Kan.; and her great-grandchildren, Grant, Kyndal Cecilia and Jenalee Paige Schneider, Luke and Hank Klinedinst and Brandon and Ashley Newell. She is also survived by her sisters Theresa Wiederholt, Bethany, Mo., Rita (Carl) Biastock, Joplin, Mo., and Dorothy Kohlleppel, Parnell, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Madonna (Sylvester) Strueby, Conception, Mo. and JoAnn (Ed) Strueby, Lamarque, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Jerry (Sue) and Jim Schneider; her sister, Mary Ann; and her brothers, John, Ed, Sylvester and Tom Strueby.

A celebration of her life will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 1:45 p.m. led by Father Bill, Saint Frances de Sales Catholic Church.
