Obituary for Carol Perry

Carol Ann Perry, 78, of Leavenworth, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at St. John Hospital. She was born Nov. 4, 1943, in Leavenworth, one of five children to Edwin and Edith (Overfield) Heintzelman.

Carol graduated from Leavenworth High School. She worked for the Department of the Army, Munson Army Hospital and then the Resource Management Office at Fort Leavenworth where she retired after 32 years of service.

She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Carol was very involved in her community. She was on the board of the Frontier Credit Union as a chairperson. Carol was a member of Zeta Omega Sorority where she volunteered her time and effort to raise money for CASA, Alliance Against Family Violence and the local animal shelters.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edwin, David and Michael; and a sister, Victoria Sanders.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, William “Bill” Perry. She is also survived by two sons, Greg (Alison) Chaffee of Tustin, Calif, and Todd (Martha) Perry of Winsted, Conn.; a daughter, Laurie (Mike) Vossmer of Ashland, Ky.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Carol enjoyed traveling around Europe with her husband Bill and attending KU and Benedictine football games together. She was an avid KU and Chiefs Football fan. Carol was passionate about animals, she loved her pets Chelsea and Smokey. Carol loved to play golf and being on the golf course but admitted she was not good at playing golf.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to your local animal shelter, CASA or Alliance Against Family Violence Alliance in Carols name.
