Obituary

Carlos Manuel Carmona-Torres, 69 of Lansing, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, at Paradise Hospital of Overland Park.

Carlos was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Dec. 22, 1950, to Norberto and Cristina (Rivera) Carmona. His favorite pastime was cooking and debate with family and friends on any given subject. His attention to detail was legendary, which earned him the nickname “El Jalisco De La Clase” though out his school years.

He served a total of twenty-three years in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the military never left him, as his family and friends will attest.

He is survived by his wife, Liz Torres-Carmona; three sons, Carlos Y. (Beth) Carmona, Carlos M. Carmona of Germany, and Antonio Martinez of Leavenworth, Kan.; a daughter, Christina Martinez of Leavenworth, Kan.; six grandchildren; Hope and Dakota Carmona, two granddaughters in Germany and MaKayla and Jace’Lynn Martinez; a brother, Daniel Carmona and Sisters Adelina Carmona, Nilda (Edgar) Carmona and Olga Carmona. Numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation beginning with praying of the rosary will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with Deacon Jim Skahan from Sacred Heart/St. Casimir parish as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
