Bradford Ray Burchyett, 72 of Tonganoxie, died Friday, June 10, 2022, at Advent Health in Shawnee, Kan. He was born Jan. 26, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Raymond and Lois (Colyer) Burchyett. Brad grew up in McClure, Ill. He attended Southeast Missouri State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1972 and later attended The University of Southern California, earning a Master of Science degree in Information Systems Management in 1988.
On June 20, 1970, he married Audrey Ballance in Wolf Lake, Ill. They had three sons, Tyler (Allison) of Southaven, Miss., Kent (Porsha) of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Aaron (Michelle) of Lansing, Kan. There are four grandchildren, Barret, Mastin, Baylee, and Carli.
Brad was preceded in death by his son, Kent and his parents, Raymond and Lois Burchyett.
Brad joined the Army in July 1972 after graduation from college. He served in the Army for 24 years earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After separation from the Army, he accepted a Civil Service position with the Army where he served until his retirement until 2010.
Brad was an active member of Haven Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haven Baptist Church 3430 Hutton Rd. Kansas City, KS. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
