Obituary for Barbara Whalen
Barbara Jo Whalen, 62, of Lansing, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023. She was born Jan. 8, 1961, to Leland D. and Helen (Battin) Whalen.
Barb grew up at the family home in Lansing, graduating from Lansing High School and Emporia State University. Barb worked for several years as a customer service representative assisting others with decisions about Medicare. Barb adopted many animals over the years, the most recent being her beloved dog, Zeus.
Barb is survived by what she called her “tribe” of cousins, Michael and Bea Meyer, Jack and Denise Meyer, Mary Ruth and Mark Nienhuser, Cindy Meyer, Beverly Hines and Charles Battin; and her friend of many years, Deanna Still.
Per Barb’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorials are suggested to the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
