Obituary for Audrey Wallis
Audrey Jane Wallis, 95, of Overland Park, Kan., died, May 1, 2020. She was born March 18, 1925, in Altoona, Penn. to William P. and Margaret L. (Tolan) Riley.
Audrey graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School in Altoona in 1943. While working in Washington D.C., Audrey met and married Robert Eugene Wallis on April 28, 1954. She and Bob enjoyed a 65 year marriage and had two children.
Throughout Bob’s twenty-year military career, the couple traveled to many postings in the U.S. and Europe where they enjoyed traveling to many historic locations with their young family. Upon Bob’s retirement from the Army, they made their home in Leavenworth. Audrey and Bob loved traveling throughout the U.S. visiting their extended families and friends.
Audrey belonged to the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) and volunteered for many years as a cashier in the Fort Leavenworth Thrift Shop.
She enjoyed several hobbies including bowling, golf and playing bridge.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Sandra Wallis of Overland Park, Kan. She was preceded
in death by her husband Robert and her son Robert Eugene II.
A private burial will be at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
