Obituary for Alison Sweet
Alison Marie Sweet, 45, of Lansing, died, Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at her home. She was born Feb. 7, 1974, in Leavenworth, Kan., the daughter of Martin and Sue (Preston) Wacker.
She attended Xavier grade school and was a 1992 graduate of Lansing High School. Alison also received her bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University in 1996.
She began her career supporting the Lansing Police Dept. performing administrative duties and later transferred to Basehor City Clerk’s Office as the Assistant City Clerk. Alison then moved on to Leawood Police Dept. as the Investigations Assistant for 18 years.
In 2007, Alison married Brian Sweet. From this union, they had one son, Nathan Sweet, whom she loved with all her heart. They divorced in 2014.
Alison is survived by her parents; her son; her twin sister, Angela Wacker; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Leavenworth County Humane Society.
